Takeaways
This project helped me learn the basics of rigging. My knowledge in Live2D can now be applied to other animation programs. After Effects’ puppet pins/warp tool, for instance, functions much the same way as Live2D’s mesh warp. The layer/material separation required for animating Live2D characters is similar to the kind of thinking required to fake 3D animation with 2D shape layers, as required when animating characters in After Effects with a plugin such as Duik Angela.
